Even the perception of crime can be an obstacle to attracting stores and customers to business districts. As a Board-certified protection professional and CPTED practitioner, Alex helps create and implement strategies to enhance consumers’ perceptions of safety and security.

Alex Fanfarillo is an associate with JGSC, where he provides clients with consultation and guidance is matters related to crime prevention, security, and the principles of safe retail operations. 

Prior to joining JGSC, Alex was the Chief of Police in Glassboro, NJ, having served 37 years with the department before retiring in 2017. He is a Board-certified protection professional in security, as well as being trained in the principles of CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design).

He has provided CPTED assessments and strategic recommendations to communities throughout New Jersey, as well as Crime-Free multi-housing program instruction for communities in New Jersey and Missouri. Alex has also lectured on CPTED “Re-designing Downtown to Deter Crime and Raise Sales” to the National Main Street Conference, Chicago. IL, the Downtown Revitalization and Management Institute – Department of Community Affairs, Trenton, NJ; the NJ Attorney General’s Office / Gloucester County Prosecutors Office Crime Prevention Summit, Woodbury, NJ; “Business Owners Meeting” – University of Jersey City Administration – Jersey City, NJ, and the League of Municipalities Conference “Enhance Investment of Downtowns”, Atlantic City, NJ
